Espar Update Campaign

Recent history has brought many changes to the world of public transportation. EPA engine mandates have been among the most predominant changes affecting everyone from the bus manufacturers, to component OEMs, to the agencies themselves.  FULL NEWSLETTER HERE

Espar Heater Systems, through investigation and field trial, has recently unveiled a strategy that prevents the Hydronic 10 coolant heaters from having O-ring leaks in buses with the higher pressure 2010 emission engines.

In a goodwill effort to keep our products functioning well in conjunction with these newer engines, Hoekstra Transportation, Eldorado National and Espar Heater Systems have initiated a product update for a specific range of units put into service between 2009-2011, purchased from either the Thunder Bay Consortium Contract or the MDOT Medium Duty Contract #519B9200188.

This product update involves a replacement kit that changes the 5/8” coolant hosing to 3/4” coolant hosing and may involve some hose routing changes. The materials for this update, including instructions and diagrams, will be provided by Hoekstra, Eldorado and Espar for agencies to install at their facilities.

As the majority of units in the field have not experienced O-ring failure issues, the kit will be sent to agencies with qualifying VIN #’s for a period of one year (September 1st, 2011 - September 1st, 2012) on an as-needed basis. Kit orders can be placed by calling 1-800-444-4104 x 1130. Please have your complete VIN# available at the time of the call.

In addition to the no-charge kit, Hoekstra Transportation is making available to eligible agencies a flat rate labor reimbursement of $125 per upgraded bus. Please call for details.

Thank you once again for your business and the opportunity to improve our products as changes occur in our business of public transportation.
